Winner of the 2004 Breakthrough Award

"'The Breakthrough Award for Judges' Choice Best of Show signifies the highest achievement a competitor can reach for a single entry in a competition. Breaktrough Magazine is proud to be the sponsor of this award, and the winner is to be congratulated for reaching this pinnacle in taxidermy. Untold hours in study, research, and experience are needed to reach this point, but it also takes a special talent to put it all together. We applaud you for winning this highest of honors." -Larry and Kathy Blomquist, Publishers of Breakthrough Magazine

Breakthrough Award
Winner of the 1995 WASCO Award

The WASCO (Wildlife Artist Supply Company) Most Artistic Entry Award is presented to the most artistic piece in a taxidermy competition. The winner is chosen collectively by all of the judges from the entire competition for their innovation, skill, artistic talent and high quality.

WASCO Award
Winner of the Carl E. Akeley Award

Winners are chosen upon three primary criteria:
1. Taxidermy skill
2. Artistic impact
3. Creativity

Being that this is one of the top taxidermy awards, it is quite natural that the first requirement is that the taxidermy work involved in the piece be of extremely high standards. The rendering itself should demonstrate taxidermy as a beautiful and valid form of wildlife art and portray the subject with taste and dignity while maintaining the anatomical accuracy and skillful techniques required in world-class taxidermy.
